(b) The items of the plugboard
1. Transmitter impulse cut-out switches.
2. Transmitter output jacks, each carrying one of the 5X5 impulses for the 5
transmitters.
3. Addition field : this has 5 rows of jacks, one for each impulse.
4. Sum of impulses : these 5 jacks are the output jacks for the 5 sums of
the addition field.
5. Distributor : these 5 jacks carry the input to the 5 impulses of the
reperforators.
6. Commons : each row constitutes one common jack.
(c) Normal Connection, ie. without plugging.
The first impulses (for example) from all five transmitters are added in the
first row of the addition field and taken to the first impulse of "Distributor".
(d) Plugging and Switching.
The more important items are described in paras (e) (f) (g) (h) (i).
